Today I visited Central Market, Chinatown, and Little India—three places that I have seen before. The difference is that Adam let me borrow his DSLR camera (high quality photos to come…For now, you get the Blackberry shots.), Zahir came along to explain some of the sights, James met up with us, and Caroline brought three friends for the exploration.
Although Central Market and Chinatown were more of the same, we did discover an interesting dark alley bordering Chinatown. It was a food market that seemed to be hidden from the tourists. In stationary steel cages were a couple of napping cats and visiting (I hope!) rodents, separated by several live chickens.
Little India was beautiful at night. The center point of the street that seemed to have the most shops and restaurants featured colored lights hanging from trees and a color-changing fountain. The curly lamposts and arches are brand-new aesthetic enhancements according to Zahir.
As icing on this cake of a day, I finally found affordable liquor. I purchased 2-170ml bottles of apple rum at RM5.6 (US$1.87) each. I’ll never buy a RM27 beer again
