Fourth of July

Make that the 1st of July

The US Embassy hosted a big-time Independence Day celebration in the swanky Renaissance Hotel. Not only did we have to remember to bring our invitations, each one had a corresponding number to be checked, plus a metal detector. Inside, it was a standard large ballroom with a live band and lot of room to mingle.
I met Brian Brinker, who interned at OWW last summer. Although his tone and body language were slightly negative, he said good things about the firm. He also implied that there was some internal drama.

After meeting Ambassador James Keith, our goal was to hit Changkat St. to go dancing (ATL Compare to Buckhead Strip; U St. for my DC people). First we stopped at a Hookah Bar for shisha then another spot, before Havana—our go-to night venue. There’s a courtyard and indoor bar downstairs. Upstairs there’s a dance floor and a balcony. We danced non-stop until almost 3AM. My tie was loosened and my shirt was half-open, drenched in sweat by the end of the night. This song was stuck in my head during the cab ride home.
